General Competition Rules (Must Read)

Swimming Regulations

  • The race follows the order of Swimming, Cycling, and Running.

  • Aside from the mandatory event-issued swim cap, athletes must provide their own gear (swimsuit, goggles, bike, helmet, apparel, etc.).

  • Wetsuits are permitted. (If wearing a long-sleeve wetsuit, your race number must be marked or clearly visible).

  • The steps along the lake can be used for brief rests. Walking along the steps to advance is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

  • Athletes must wait by the water before the start. No test swimming in the cleared course is allowed. Violators will be penalized for false starts.

Cycling & Running Regulations

  • Private support from moving vehicles (cars/scooters) is strictly prohibited. Violators will be disqualified. For 226KM athletes, private support from family/friends is only permitted within the designated 30-meter zones at official aid stations.

  • Trash drop zones are located at aid stations. Littering (water bottles, cups, wrappers) on the course will result in disqualification.

  • The bike and run courses cannot be fully closed to traffic. Athletes must stay in the slow lanes on the sides of the road and remain highly alert to approaching vehicles.

  • Different segments have specific cut-off times. To avoid failing to finish within the time limits, participants are strongly advised to possess the necessary stamina for open-water swimming, long-distance cycling/running, and the skills for rapid transitions.

  • Please decelerate and watch out for pedestrians and vehicles in hazardous areas (e.g., transition zones, aid stations, town streets, narrow paths, turnaround points, gas stations, bus stops).

Basic Penalties

  • Substitute Racing: If confirmed, the Chief Referee will invalidate the results, impose a 3-year ban on both parties, and publish the names of the substitute and the registered athlete online.

  • Bare Torso: Racing shirtless during the bike or run segments incurs a 3-minute penalty. Severe violations will lead to disqualification.

  • Dangerous Overtaking: Overtaking on downhills, sharp turns, or dangerous sections is strictly prohibited to prevent accidents. Violators face a 3 to 5-minute time penalty.

  • Unruly Behavior: Failure to comply with Organizer instructions before or after the race, causing unnecessary disputes, or severe misconduct will result in the athlete being blacklisted and banned from future events.

Safety Notices

  • If you feel unwell on race day, do not force yourself to compete. The referees and medical staff reserve the right to withdraw an athlete based on their physical condition. The athlete may not object and assumes all personal responsibility.

  • Transition bags are strictly for use in the transition area. Do not hang them on your bike handlebars, as this poses a serious safety hazard.

  • Force Majeure: In the event of typhoons, declared national epidemics, or force majeure natural disasters, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter the course and events for safety reasons. Athletes may not object. If the entire event is canceled, refunds will be issued after deducting incurred administrative and logistical costs. If the event is canceled on race day due to force majeure, there will be no postponement or refund; finisher souvenirs will be distributed on-site.

  • The Organizer provides Public Liability Insurance. Athletes are strongly required to purchase their own personal competition-specific accident insurance.

Appeals

  • Procedure: Team leaders or coaches must submit a formal written appeal (signed) to the Jury of Appeal within 10 minutes of the results being posted, accompanied by a NT$5,000 deposit. The Jury's decision is final. If the appeal is rejected, the deposit is forfeited to the event fund.

  • Athletes must obey the referees' decisions. Questioning or insulting referees on-site is prohibited. Severe behavior will result in disqualification and a ban from future events.

  • Any disputes regarding results or decisions must be raised with evidence before the event concludes. No appeals will be accepted afterward.
